Ideal-Cities Organized and run the 1st International workshop on Smart Circular Economy (SmaCE). The workshop was co-located with the IEEE annual International Conference on Distributed Computing in Sensor Systems (DCOSS 2019) at Santorini Island, Greece.
On December 4-6th Bluesoft had a great opportunity to participate in ICT 2018: Imagine Digital – Connect Europe conference organized by European Commision.
BlueSoft representatives have been disseminating running R&D H2020 projects especially IDEAL-CITIES and exchanging experiences with many other participants and beneficiaries of EU H2010 projects.
Additionally, BlueSoft has had a chance to learn about the EC approach to develop and support AI research and applications, digital transformation, IoT, cybersecurity, blockchain business applications, data markets and many more.
On November 20th, 2018 Dr Marios Angelopoulos of Bournemouth University was invited to the British Geological Survey (est. 1835 with the aim to advance geoscientific knowledge of the United Kingdom landmass and its continental shelf by means of systematic surveying, monitoring and research) to present his work on IoT-enabled landslide monitoring as well as to deliver an open talk to all BGS staff titled “Internet of Things: Towards Cyber-Physical Convergence”.
The talk addressed the IoT paradigm, as well as novel business models and broader paradigms, such as the Circular Economy. In this context, Ideal Cities was presented in detail as pioneering on-going research on data driven Circular Economy.
On October 23rd 2018 BlueSoft has been actively participating in the AWS Transformation Day Conference targeted to business sector. The general topic of the conference is related to cloud services and promoting new trends in that area.
BlueSoft has been actively presenting and disseminating the IDEAL-CITIES project idea and how cloud services are envisaged to be leveraged for the project implementation.
On 22-24 October 2018, a team from ENPC and a team from Cablenet participated at the World Circular Economy Forum 2018, held in Tokyo, Japan. Giorgos Demetriou, ENPC CERC Director, was a speaker at the session Circular Economy’s Frontier of Knowledge on the topic “The Future of Information Technology for Circular Economy”. In this regard, he presented to a worldwide public the objectives and initial achievements of IDEAL-CITIES, in addition to making reference and giving visibility to all partners involved in the project and the related innovation strains.

Immediate feedback was received after the presentation at the WCEF. A Chinese and a Taiwanese company expressed their interest in the project. In addition, both Politecnico di Milano and University of Tampere reached for potential collaboration.
Ideal-Cities was presented during the Researchers’ Night at FORTH’s premises in Heraklio Crete.
Ideal-Cities was present on the ENISA-FORTH Summer School on Network and Information Security 2018 with a poster, a presentation and leaflets.
Ideal-Cities was present on the RAID 2018 Symposium with a poster, a presentation and leaflets.
The Ideal-Cities kick off meeting took place on July 10th, 2018 at FORTH in Heraklio, Greece. More than 20 participants attended from all 6 partners.
